Nyx In Your Element Eyeshadow Palette – Earth (Review and Swatches)

Okay so when I first heard of the NYX eyeshadow palettes launching, I didn’t even think twice about it. Nyx isn’t really a brand I run to the store for.  Don’t get me wrong, their stuff is seriously awesome and I have tons of their lip products and love their glitter but when it comes to eyeshadows…. eh. I used to own a bunch of their loose pigments and absolutely hated the pigmentation so I stopped looking towards their eyeshadows completely. When I saw these in store though, I was seriously blown away. I mean the colors look amazing and there are about 5 different palettes to choose from and I ended up going with Earth because it had a wide range of warm colors perfect for the fall (even though I really wanted pick them all up especially the colorful ones).

I mean just look at it. It comes with 12 shades, 4 shimmers and 8 mattes and all of them are really pigmented BUT also have a lot of fallout which can seem disappointing but it doesn’t take away from the color payoff. I like the packaging because it’s such a compact palette and it comes with full sized mirror which is a huge bonus for me. I also like that the colors are just numbered so it’s super easy to follow especially when doing tutorials (youtubers, this is perfect for y’all!) Now the bad part… These retail for a whopping $30. The minute I found out the price I was immediately pushed away from purchasing it because I do consider Nyx a more drugstore/affordable brand so $30 for a palette seemed way to extreme. Luckily, Ulta was having a 30% off sale on the entire brand so I ended up getting this and I now I wish I had gotten more.

Let’s move on to swatching! This will be done from top to bottom and all done with a dry brush and no primer underneath. The last picture will show the kickback (fallout) from some of the shadows, primarily the matte ones. But keep in mind this did not alter the formula at all.

Shade 1: matte cream
Shade 2: matte burgandy-brown
Shade 3: matte taupey-brown
Shade 4: matte olive green

Alright and that’s the round-up for this palette! Overall I am loving this one so far and will definitely be traveling with it because it’s so versatile but not overwhelming. I love the shimmers, although I wish there were some more fun colors but as I type this out I realize that there is a separate palette that is completely and only shimmers so maybe not so much a big deal.

Here is a look I created using this:
