Ahh Nyx. One of the most affordable brands out there with a ridiculous amount of variety, especially when it comes to the lip colors. I often find myself in the Nyx aisle at Ulta always checking out the newest lip options. I particularly love their lipliners. Now I wasn’t always fond of the liquid lipsticks but with their recent additions, I am slowly coming back to them. The latest obsession? These suede cream lipsticks. Now before I get into detail, please keep in mind these ARE NOT LIQUID LIPSTICKS. They are cream lipsticks which mean opaque and hydrating but they are definitely far from being waterproof (though this is a claim) and transfer resistant. If you’re wanting to wear these on a night out without wanting to touch up, it might be best to either skip these or apply a liquid lipstick on top. As I was picking some colors up, I noticed that they also had matching suede lipliners which apply a lot more smoothly and are more creamy than the other liners. I only picked up three shades to sort of test them out and just overall see how I feel about slowly including other formulas of lip colors in my life besides liquid lipsticks.
They come with a slightly elongated and slanted doe foot applicator which was quite easy to use and dare I say can be applied without lipliner (tried and tested). I purchased the shades Sandstorm, Cherry Skies and Soft-Spoken. Please also note that these look much darker in the tube than they are swatched on the skin, although they might be true to color on more fair tones.
Sandstorm: a mid-tone nude that doesn’t lean too peach or brown. Lipliner used: London
Soft-Spoken: A tea rose shade which I think will look good on all skin tones. This looked much, much darker in the tube than on my lips but I don’t mind the color. Same shade lipliner used
Cherry Skies: I bought this thinking it was a deeper red but it does lean a tad cool than warm. I personally don’t feel the most comfortable in this shade tone so I will be mixing it with either a darker lipliner or another darker shade. Same shade lipliner used
I am pretty much loving these for everyday wear or for those days you don’t want to fuss with liquid lipsticks. The application is easy to apply, just be careful with the darker colors since they will transfer. The wear time on these for me was about 3-4 hours without eating or drinking which isn’t the best but the colors are so pretty, I will find a way to make these work. These retail for $7 which is steal. Try these out for yourself!
